Our Argentinean night in September was a huge success. It was inspired by Jane’s visit to Argentina in March, which she visited as part of her prize for winning the 2010 Independent Wine Retailer of the Year. Whilst visiting Argentina, Jane really enjoyed visiting the different vineyards and tasting the fabulous wines, but she said she was also mesmerised by the Tango dancing, and wanted to recreate the whole experience in Lancashire.
So on the Argentinean night, guests were not only treated to some excellent Argentinean cuisine including Empanadas, Mussel Soup, Steak Cimichurri and Churros with Hot Chocolate Sauce and accompanied by 6 excellent Argentinean wines, they were also wowed by the grand finale when two professional tango dancers put on a very special Tango Extravaganza!
The tango dancers were Santiago Monticelli from Buenos Aires and Masha Gurina from the Ukraine and on the following Sunday morning they even made a special trip to Hazelwood Ward, Chorley Hospital to dance again for Jane’s husband Frank Cuthbertson – who was unfortunately ill in hospital and had missed all the fun on the Saturday night.
Argentinean wines tasted on the night included Foster “Los” Sparkling Rose, Lorca “Fantasia” Torrontes, Lorca “Poetica” Viognier, Lorca “Opalo” Malbec, Enrique Foster Malbec Reserva and Malbrontes.
There will be plenty more Dinner and wine tasting events in 2011, so keep an eye on the website or ensure your name is on our mailing list, so we can keep you up to date with all our events.
