Christmas Wine Gifts @ Barrica Wines

Well if the weekend is anything to go by Christmas is officially now on its way in the Barrica Wines Shop.

On both Saturday and Sunday the shop was extremely busy and we took lots of orders for our Christmas Day Wine cases priced at £41.40 and £91.60 – showing a wallet boosting 20% off our normal retail price, and our party wine cases priced at £60. Our bespoke Christmas hampers and enormous selection of wine related gifts are also porving very popular, so if you are stuck for a gift, why not pop in to the shop and see what we have to offer. Here are a few ideas to whet you appetite.

Christmas Wine Tasting at Barrica Wines

Last night’s Christmas Portfolio Tasting  was a really great night!

Suppliers and customers alike said it was the best yet with a great atmosphere – and I couldn’t agree more. We have put a limit on the numbers for these events now to ensure that everyone gets to talk to the suppliers and can get to all the tables, and this really seems to be working.

The food afterwards was the poshest shepherd’s pie I’ve ever tasted! – Thank you Simon Bower, you are really taking the Huntleys food to the next level.

We had some stunning wines available last night from £6.95 to £60 and we received a lot of lovely orders from people taking advantage of the 10% discount on the night. I was particularly pleased to see so many of the orders were for the more expensive wines, which just goes to prove if you let people taste a good wine they are confident to trade up once they know how good the wine is going to be!

A lovely climax to the night for me was a first time visitor who said he didn’t know what to expect but it was 10 times better than anything he’d imagined. He has already asked to buy 12 tickets for our Spring Portfolio Tasting on 15th March 2012 – so if the tickets are going to fly out this quickly you had better get your tickets bought soon……

'Allo 'Allo!

This must go down as one of our best – and most enthusiastically attended  – dinner tastings yet. Thank you to everyone who came, but especially all those of you who dressed up – the costumes were amazing and really made the evening. We were especially impressed by the guests who turned up in a jeep……

The new range of Bordeaux Wines we were previewing went down extremely well and everyone was amazed by the excellent vaue of the wine. If you missed out on the night we now have the wines in the Barrica shop so pop in and see what you missed.

This was our first opportunity to sample a menu Huntleys brand new head chef Simon Bower and the meal was absolutely superb!

Huntleys Restaurant gets new Michelin Starred Chef

Here at Barrica we are extremely excited that Huntleys restaurant has a fabulous new chef.

Michelin starred chef Simon Bower, who has previously worked as head chef at the Marco Pierre White’s Swan Inn at Aughton and as joint head chef at the prestigious Northcote Manor has joined the team at Huntleys as Head Chef.

Huntleys restaurant has always been excellent, but we are expecting that Simon will take it to a whole new level! Come along to our Armistice Day Dinner on Friday or Christmas Portfolio Tasting supper on 17th November and see what he has to offer……
